Everyday IT support

Everyday IT support, without the ticket number runaround

Quantrel runs the unglamorous side of your technology: business email and shared drives, backups that are tested rather than assumed, security patching, password management, and setting up laptops, POS terminals and printers. One contact who knows your business, on a monthly plan you can cancel at any time.

DefinitionManaged IT support
Managed IT support is an outsourced arrangement where one provider takes ongoing responsibility for a business's everyday technology: email and accounts, backups, patching, security monitoring, and hardware. It is paid monthly rather than per incident, which is what stops the provider profiting from things breaking.
01

What we take off your hands

The recurring jobs that have no owner in a business your size, and the one off emergencies that arrive on the worst possible morning.

  • Business email, domains and shared drives set up and kept working
  • Automatic backups, with restores tested rather than assumed
  • Security patching, antivirus and password management across the team
  • New laptops, POS terminals and printers configured and handed over working
  • Accounts created and, just as importantly, closed when someone leaves
  • One number to call, with no ticket number runaround
02

Why backups are the first thing we look at

A backup nobody has ever restored from is not a backup, it is a folder. The most common finding in our audits is a backup job that has been failing silently for months.

We set up offsite, immutable backups, then restore from them in front of you once so everyone in the room has seen it work. After that it is tested on a schedule rather than on the day you need it. This is the single cheapest piece of insurance a small business can buy, and it is the one most often quietly broken.

03

One person who knows you

The same contact from the first call onward, who already knows how your business runs and does not need the situation explained from scratch every time.

The account manager relay race exists to protect a provider's margin, not your Tuesday. There is no client services layer here, so the person who picks up is the person who set your systems up and can change them.

04

What we will tell you not to buy

Hosting, domains, hardware and software subscriptions are bought in your name at list price. We do not resell them to you, so there is nothing padded and no incentive to over specify.

This is worth being explicit about, because the standard model in this industry is the opposite. A provider on resale margin makes more when you buy a bigger plan. We make the same either way, which is why we are comfortable telling you the cheaper tier is fine.

05

Security is not a separate conversation

Patching, multi factor authentication, password management and monitoring are part of the support plan, not an upsell you get offered after an incident.

Most of what a small business needs to not be an easy target is operational discipline rather than expensive tooling: things get patched, leavers get offboarded, credentials are not shared in a group chat, and someone notices when a backup fails. That is support work, so it is priced as support work.

Three ways small businesses buy IT

Most established businesses are on the first row and do not realise there is a third.

How it worksWhat it costs you
The person who is good with computersSomeone on staff, or a relative, fixes things between their actual job.Nothing, until the backup turns out to have been failing for eight months.
Break fix, per incidentYou call when something breaks and pay for the visit or the hours. The provider earns more when things break, and nothing gets maintained between calls.
Monthly managed supportOne provider owns the whole picture: patching, backups, accounts, hardware and the helpdesk.A predictable monthly figure, and a provider whose incentive is that nothing breaks.

How the work runs

  1. 01

    Audit what you are running

Within one working day of asking

Every account, domain, device and subscription written down, usually for the first time. This alone answers the question nobody in the business can currently answer, which is who has the login.

  2. 02

    Fix what is already broken

    First one to two weeks

Failing backups, unpatched machines, shared passwords, accounts still active for people who left. This is almost always where the first month goes, and it is the part with the highest return.

  3. 03

    Put it in your name

    Alongside the fixes

Domains, hosting, email tenancy and subscriptions transferred into the business's own accounts at list price, documented in one place you keep. No markup, and nothing held hostage.

  4. 04

    Run it monthly

    Ongoing, cancel any time

Helpdesk for the whole team, patching, monitoring, backups and hardware setup. A one page report each month on what changed, and same day response on anything urgent.

Questions about everyday it support

Do you work with businesses outside your city?
Yes. Most of the work happens over calls and email, and remote support covers the majority of IT issues. For on site work like POS terminals or network setup, ask us and we will tell you upfront whether we can cover you.
We already have someone who handles our IT. Is this a replacement?
Not necessarily. Plenty of businesses keep the person who knows their floor and their hardware, and use us for the parts nobody has time for: backups, patching, email tenancy, account offboarding and security. We will tell you honestly on the audit whether there is enough left over to be worth paying for.
What happens if we want to leave?
You email us and we hand over the logins the same week. Every domain, hosting account, email tenancy and subscription is already registered in your name, so there is nothing to transfer and no leverage to apply. The plan is monthly with no lock in contract.
How fast do you respond when something is actually down?
Same day on anything urgent, and you are contacting one person directly rather than opening a ticket that gets triaged by someone who has never seen your setup. For everything else, we reply within one working day, from a person who read it.
Do you cover hardware, or only software and accounts?
Both. New laptops, POS terminals and printers set up and handed over working, plus the accounts, email, drives and backups behind them. We buy the hardware in your name at list price rather than reselling it to you, so there is no margin pushing you toward a bigger machine than you need.
